Our John John Boom...

In September 2006 during a routine pediatric doctor's appointment at Walter Reed Army Medical Center a baseline blood draw indicated something was wrong with our little man.

After several additional blood tests over the next few weeks and a physical examination, the Pediatric Neurology Staff at Walter Reed informed us that it appeared John had some form of muscular dystrophy.

A definitive DNA test was performed and on December 8, 2006, John was definitively diagnosed with a debilitative fatal disease called Duchenne
Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) that presently remains incurable.

One sad part of this story was that when John was little, he used to fall a lot. We would always say, John you keep going "boom" and falling. This is how he got the nick name John John Boom. The sad part is we did not know that the reason he was falling was because he had muscular dystrophy.
